What is Aktar?

Aktar is a small native macOS/Windows utility that uploads files directly to a customer's own S3-compatible bucket and puts a public link on the clipboard. It deliberately avoids being a cloud intermediary: credentials live in the macOS Keychain, files go to the customer's own AWS S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, DigitalOcean Spaces, MinIO, or any compatible endpoint. The product is free and open source in the observed materials, with no account, no middleman, and no visible paid tier. Its focus is extremely single-purpose: take a file, screenshot, or clipboard paste, upload it quickly, and produce a URL, Markdown, HTML, or custom template link. Recent features include expiring links using bucket lifecycle rules, a bucket browser, destination switching, and Raycast integration. The product is polished and privacy-first, but its commercial path is unproven.
