While the AI agent market is booming, building a competitive browser engine is technically prohibitive; however, a service leveraging existing engines could succeed.

What is Kitesurf?
Kitesurf is Cloudflare's new stateless, lightweight browser engine built specifically for AI agents, running entirely on Workers. By trading away human-facing features like pixel-perfect rendering, tabs, and extensions, it achieves 3-7x lower CPU and memory usage compared to Chromium, enabling cost-effective, highly scalable, bursty AI-driven workloads. It supports standard web APIs, CDP, and MCP, making it drop-in compatible with Puppeteer, Playwright, and AI agent frameworks. Currently in free beta, it's positioned to become a core infrastructure component for the agentic web.
