Muse Code is a terminal-based AI coding agent released in beta by Meta AI Research. It leverages asynchronous background agents that stay active throughout a session to handle complex, multi‑step engineering tasks faster, with reduced latency and better crash resilience via a local event log. The underlying model, Muse Spark 1.2, was specifically co‑trained with the agent harness for coding, and it demonstrates self‑improvement and long‑horizon project completion. The combination of persistent subagents, approval‑gated planning, and the ability to resume after failure positions it as a next‑generation tool for developers working on large repositories. While currently free and installable via a simple curl command, its future pricing is unknown; it is also available through the Meta Model API.
